This is a manga that shaped a lot of our childhoods no? I know that I learned a lot of Japanese by reading these comics [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif[/img]

I was reading Dragon Ball real time from the end of the regular series going into Z. That's when humour started being replaced more frequently by elongated battle sequences that would last many many episodes. Still cool though. I always liked Gohan, bit of a goody but still goofy in the Toriyama way. Piccolo's an awesome character too. Yajirobe and Mr.Satan are always good for a laugh. I used to watch the reruns when I still had cable before I moved recently. Oh man, can't forget Dr.Gero, haha, he was a good character. Pafupafu all the way!
It's funny how the kids anime in Japan turned into a worldwide non-Japanese otaku phenomenon though [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif[/img]

i have seen a real person doing kamehameha. i kid you not. i saw this japanese old man who moved a a stack of tissues doing kamehameha. i was into dragon ball. from pre tv from shonen jump days. but half way i lost interest. however i do think dragon ball is a classic.

Totally digged Gohan.
My favourite saga was the saga involving the androids and seru (Cell). Gohan was so awesome when he defeated Seru with that one armed kamehameha with his fathers spirit behind it after seru had come back even stronger after Goku sacrificed himself to kill seru.
Chuck Norris owns the greatest Poker Face of all-time. It helped him win the 1983 World Series of Poker despite him holding just a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoloy card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game UNO.
Jesus's Birthday isn't December 25 but Chuck Norris once sent him a birthday card for that day, Jesus was too scared to tell Chuck the truth. Thats why we celebrate Christmas.

Vegeta and Piccolo. I don't have a favourite saga but I suppose Freeza was memorable.
I also have the very first book of DB (not DBZ) and I like that too.

I never read the comic but I never lost any episode. My favorite character was Vegeta. He was a badass but had a good heart.

wow, a live action movie!?! Toriyama Akira must be laughing all the way to a Swiss bank. who would've thought the series would get this much traction overseas.

In the English dubbed version, my fav. character was Trunks. Half the time I didn't know what was going on b/c I watched the series in Chinese.
Did it kill anyone else that one fight scene would take about 15 episodes?

haha, yeah, he just dragged on the fight scenes because they were weekly serials. sorta like charles dickens and his uber descriptive writing style because his novels were also originally serials. i love the little bits of off the wall comedy thrown into the mix though, DB had better fighting/comedy balance than DBZ.

I've always liked DB more than DBZ though. More as a comedy/fighting manga than the whole saiya-jin saga.
Was it the manga or the anime where Arare-chan (Dr. Slump?) cameos and rides goku's cloud? haha
I heard the other day over here that the title GT (Dragon Ball GT) was named that way to say "Gomennasai Toriyama" cos they made the entire series without his permission. Just a rumour? haha

Yeah, Toriyama must've messed up the rights to the series with his contract (unlike Lucas with SW), I hope he's getting the windfall he deserves for its worldwide popularity right now. Very secretive man, his face never appears in the media (like Daft Punk). I've seen bits and pieces of GT, wasn't interesting at all.

While the live action movie is definitely being planned, sorry to say but that trailer was a fake [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img]
The movie is currently being planned for next year, and from what I know, that trailer wasn't anything like the movie. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink2.gif[/img]
(The movie isn't DBZ - it's about the original Dragonball series...)

Haha, they should've gotten two actors because Goku does basically turn white after becoming a super-saiya-jin.
