I watched 47 ronin a few days ago, starring Tatsuya Nakadai and Toshiro Mifune. Nakadai looks Haafu but isn't - i guess it's due to jomon blood.

I was getting into my heritage the other day and found a 5 part youtube video on the topic of Japanese genetics and how most people were thought to be Jomon.

My relatives being Imperial Samurai so i'm all mixed horserider Yakutian battlesome women and whitey ainu traders (my disclaimer is in the fact that it was a USA genetic test result) with Japanese/Chinese ...I never heard of Jomon before the video on You Tube. I'm hopeless without online;- since noone tells me much of anything useful.

So part 4 & 5 cover it in the "Looking for the Genetic Roots of the Japanese" on You Tube.

so how does one prove they are of samurai stock? seems like every Japanese person i've met claims samurai ancestry but part of me thinks it's BS. I know my mom's side of the family were farmers....probably with Jomon ancestry. again, that would explain my hairy arse

A heavy browridge gives it away imo. Just look at this Ainu man:

Now look at Mie Hama, she has really deep-set eyes for a Japanese woman:

Then compare her brow ridge to a more typical Japanese girl:

Ok here is an example which shows a junxtoposition of a typical Japanese face and a Jomon Japanese face:

The most obvious differences are a larger chin and browridge, a Jomon skull is generally much more robust.

So here we have Jomon Japanese on the left and Yayoi Japanese on the right.

The guy on the left is in fact partially Ainu.

This is a short documentary on the genetic makeup of the Japanese that I found quite interesting:

It's hard to believe but according to the documentary the average Japanese person has 25% Ainu/Okinawan DNA. I find this hard to believe.
