Wow! This is so exciting, I can't imagine how you must feel... Sigh, I look forward to becoming a father one day <img src='http://www.halvsie.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

The coolest boy-name I've heard is "Ryuma", as in 龍磨 - Dragon + Shine.

Ouah! (that's the french for "wow" <img src='http://www.halvsie.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />) Congratulations!

I don't have kids so I can't give any advice but I can tell you what I have seen when I worked with children.

As Ayuki said, many parents spoil their kids but little children need stability and boundaries. They feel safe when they know for sure that a "no" is a "no" and a "yes" is a "yes".

Something I have seen very often is parents who lie to their kids because they think they are too young to understand. Kids understand very early what's going on around them so it's better to be honest with them.

Have you found a japanese boy name yet? I like Akira too and Shinsuke sounds nice. Shun is quite cool <img src='http://www.halvsie.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> but it can sound a little bit too much like Sean in english.

I think I'm gonna pass on giving my child a Japanese name - I have my mother's Japanese last name, so that should be good enough.

Hey Shimura-ken, congrats! Looks like we're a little bit ahead of you guys... In fact, due in the next week or two (were told two different due dates at different points of the pregnancy, so we're going with the "baby will arrive whenever it feels like it" approach).

I'll post our learnings here with whatever advice I can muster haha
